In a recent report, i claimed that Everton are trailing Brighton and Hove Albion in the race to sign Newcastle United ace Yankuna Minteh. It has been stated that the Toffees are facing competition in the form of the Seagulls as well as Borussia Dortmund and Olympique Lyonnais in the race to land the Gambian wide player this summer.
Minteh’s Impressive Loan Spell In Dutch Football
Minteh enjoyed a decent loan spell at Feyenoord in the previous campaign as he put in a series of impressive displays for them in the Dutch Eredivisie. The 19-year-old banged in ten goals and registered six assists in 37 matches for the Dutch outfit last season in multiple competitions.
The Gambian sensation has been a good performer in the final third based on his average of 2.1 shots, 1.0 key passes and 2.2 dribbles per game in the Dutch Eredivisie. However, he has lacked quality when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 69.4% in the Dutch top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at his parent club Newcastle United will expire in the summer of 2028, so the Toffees would find it difficult to land him on the cheap this off-season.
Should Everton Boss Sean Dyche Move In For Minteh?
Minteh is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and has got the vision to create some inviting chances for his teammates in the final third. He can shoot the ball with venom from long range and can chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals up top.
The talented teenager is primarily a right-winger but can also function as a left-sided wide player or as a centre-forward if told to do so by his manager. We can expect him to add more firepower to Everton head coach Sean Dyche’s attack.
At 19, Minteh has the potential to be a future star in English football. Thus, it makes sense for the Toffees to try and arrange a move for him before the end of this transfer window. There is no denying that Minteh would be a great option for the Merseyside club to consider in the long run.
