Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has revealed the real reason why Jurgen Klopp left Liverpool earlier this summer. The German coach decided to part ways with the Reds at the end of the 2023-24 campaign and Ancelotti has now revealed the reason why he left the Merseyside club.
Klopp announced that he would be leaving Liverpool back in January. In an emotional interview back then, the German tactician said,
“It is that I am, how can I say it, running out of energy. I have no problem now, obviously, I knew it already for longer that I will have to announce it at one point, but I am absolutely fine now. I know that I cannot do the job again and again and again and again.
“After the years we had together and after all the time we spent together and after all the things we went through together, the respect grew for you, the love grew for you and the least I owe you is the truth – and that is the truth.”
Klopp went on to lead the Merseyside club to Carabao Cup glory but could only manage to secure a third-place finish in the Premier League.
In a recent interview with il Giornale, Carlo Ancelotti shared his thoughts on Klopp’s recent Liverpool exit. The Real Madrid head coach said,
“I don’t see any particular news, this has always been our job but the Klopp case is significant. The continuous pressure, the load of responsibilities become excessive burdens, the obsession takes over. It also happened to Arrigo Sacchi.”
Reflecting on his glorious nine-year managerial spell at Liverpool, Klopp said,
“It’s super-special. We all felt at home, we all felt welcomed. That’s what we all felt from the start, that’s the special thing about the people in this area, Scousers, it’s really special.
“We felt supported, we felt loved, we felt everything. And yes, we delivered as well in moments and we always fought. That again is what the people expect. It was the biggest win-win situation I ever saw and experienced in my lifetime because nothing would have happened without the people here, and maybe not exactly the same would have happened if somebody else would have been in charge.”
