In a recent report, Mundo Deportivo mentioned that Barcelona are big admirers of Liverpool winger Luis Diaz this summer. It has been stated that the Catalan club are dreaming of a move for the Colombian international but would have to sell Raphinha to fund the transfer.
Diaz’s Decent Run Of Form In English Football
Diaz enjoyed another impressive campaign at Liverpool as he managed to put in a handful of productive displays on the left flank. The Colombian sensation found the back of the net 13 times and secured five assists in 51 matches for the Reds last season in various competitions.
The 27-year-old has been a reliable performer in the final third based on his average of 2.5 shots, 1.7 key passes and 1.8 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has even distributed the ball well in the opposition half, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 85.3% in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Merseyside club will run out in the summer of 2027. Hence, it would be difficult for Barcelona to get a deal over the line for him on the cheap this off-season.
Should Barcelona Boss Hansi Flick Make A Move For Diaz?
Diaz has got the pace to cause a lot of headaches for his marker out in the wide areas. He is a good dribbler with the ball and can create some inviting chances for others around him on the offensive third of the field.
The Colombian talent can even shoot the ball with venom from long range but needs to find a way to improve his productivity in front of the opposition goal. He is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also play as a right-winger if asked to do so.
Diaz would no doubt enhance the quality of Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick’s frontline. He has what it takes to help the Catalan club compete for plenty of major honours over the next few years. Therefore, Barca would be wise to make a move for Diaz in this summer transfer period.
At 27, the Colombian wing wizard is enjoying his prime and is well-equipped to make an instant impact at the Nou Camp.
