As West Ham United look to bolster their unit ahead of the next season, the Premier League club have identified and registered their interest in signing Atletico Madrid‘s emerging star, Samu Omorodion, in the summer as per Fichajes.
Samu Omorodion is a tough striker to handle
After developing his game in his early days at Seville and Granada, Samu Omorodion joined Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2023. In the same season, he was loaned out to Deportivo Alaves until the end of the season.
The 19-year-old has performed well for the Spanish side this term. He has featured in 32 games and netted nine goals and one assist. He is averaging 1.9 shots, 0.5 key passes, and 0.6 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).
Omorodion is a centre-forward who likes to dominate the opponent’s defenders with his physique. He is not afraid to go into aerial dues and also has a good pace. He uses his positioning and behind runs to create threats and can also play quick 1-2s.
Will West Ham United break the bank?
Samu Omorodion has the potential to turn into an elite striker in the upcoming years. With experience and proper guidance, he will get better and better. Hence, major European clubs including West Ham United are interested in getting his signature.
The Hammers are in the market to bring in fresh attackers to bolster their offensive line. They see the Spanish forward as a viable option for the summer transfer window. However, signing him won’t be easy as Arsenal and Liverpool are also in the race.
As far as Atletico Madrid is concerned, they are willing to cash in on the youngster given they get around 60 million euros. Omorodion is reportedly not in the scheme of things for boss Diego Simeone for the next campaign.
It remains to be seen if West Ham United are going to invest such a large amount in the emerging property or not.
