In a recent tweet, AS Marca revealed that West Ham United have launched a move for Fenerbahce defender Ferdi Kadioglu. It has been claimed that the Hammers would face competition in the form of Arsenal in the race to sign the Turkish left-back.
Kadioglu’s Impressive Form In Turkish Football
The 24-year-old is having a fine campaign in Turkish football as he has managed to put in a run of impressive displays for Fenerbahce on the left flank. Kadioglu has scored three times and picked up five assists in 50 appearances for Fenerbahce this season across all competitions.
The Turkish talent has caught the eye at times on the left wing based on his average of 2.0 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 1.6 clearances, 0.8 shots, 1.4 key passes and 1.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Turkish Super Lig. He has even distributed the ball accurately after completing 84.7% of his attempted passes in the Turkish top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Turkish club will expire in the summer of 2026. Thus, it won’t be easy for West Ham to arrange a cut-price move for him later this year.
Is Kadioglu A Decent Choice For West Ham United?
Kadioglu is a good tackler of the ball and can scan the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually clears the danger when needed and can create some decent chances for others around him from the left flank.
The Turkish full-back can make a few driving runs with the ball out in the wide areas. He is primarily a left-back but can also operate as a right-back or as a defensive midfielder if told to do so.
We can expect Kadioglu to bring more quality and depth to West Ham‘s match-day squad. He is good enough to fight for a regular playing role at the London Stadium in the coming years.
At 24, Kadioglu has his peak years ahead of him. Hence, he would be an excellent choice for the East London club to consider before the start of the new campaign. However, the jury is still out on whether he can cope with the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football.
