In a recent report, AS claimed that West Ham United are among the clubs hoping to land Girona winger Viktor Tsygankov. It has been stated that the Hammers could face competition in the form of Wolverhampton Wanderers and Aston Villa in the race to sign the Ukraine international in the summer.
Tsygankov’s Decent Form In La Liga This Season
Tsygankov has enjoyed an impressive campaign in La Liga as he managed to put in a series of influential displays on the right side of Girona’s attack. The 26-year-old has scored six goals and grabbed six assists in 33 matches for the Spanish outfit this season in various competitions.
The Ukraine international has been a decent contributor on the offensive end of the field based on his average of 1.4 shots, 1.1 key passes and 0.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even taken care of the ball when distributing possession in the opponent’s half after completing 83.1% of his attempted passes in the Spanish first division (stats via whoscored).
Tsygankov’s current contract at Girona will expire in the summer of 2027. Hence, the Hammers would have to make a big move if they want to convince the Spanish club to part ways with their prized asset later this year.
Should West Ham United Go For Tsygankov?
Tsygankov is a good dribbler with the ball and can make a few driving runs with the ball on the right flank. He can shoot the ball accurately from long range and has got the eye to play a few decisive passes in the opposition half.
The Ukrainian talent is primarily a right-winger but can also operate on the left flank or play in the number ten position if required. However, there are some question marks over whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League if West Ham manage to get him on board this summer.
Tsygankov would add more firepower to the East London club‘s attack. Plus, he could help the Hammers compete across all fronts in the coming seasons. At 26, Tsygankov is about to enter his prime, so West Ham should go for someone with his skillset in the upcoming transfer period.
