In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that West Ham United are locked in a three-way battle for Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri. It has been mentioned that the Hammers would have to compete with Tottenham Hotspur and AC Milan in the race to sign the Moroccan forward later this year.
En-Nesyri’s Impressive Numbers In Spanish Football
En-Nesyri is enjoying a great campaign at the Spanish club as he has managed to produce a run of fruitful displays for them in the final third. The Moroccan talent has been involved in 38 matches for Sevilla this season, finding the back of the net 19 times and securing three assists in multiple competitions.
The 26-year-old has led the line relatively well for the Andalusian outfit based on his average of 2.2 shots, 0.3 key passes and 0.3 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. However, he needs to improve his ball distribution after completing just 63.4% of his attempted passes in the Spanish first division (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at Sevilla will expire at the end of next season, so the Hammers could potentially snap him up on the cheap in the upcoming transfer period.
Is En-Nesyri A Good Option For West Ham United?
En-Nesyri excels at finding a yard of space for himself to get some shots in at goal and has proven himself to be a reliable finisher in the final third during his time at Sevilla. He can create the odd chance for his teammates up top and can be clever with his runs in and around the opposition penalty box.
However, the Moroccan striker has to find a way to improve his link-up play in the opponent’s half. Furthermore, the jury is still out on whether he can maintain his good form in the Premier League if West Ham manage to bring him on board this summer.
En-Nesyri would bring a lot of firepower to the East London club‘s attack. He might even help them compete for European football once again over the next few years. Therefore, the Hammers should focus on moving in for him later this year.
At 26, En-Nesyri has his peak years ahead of him which makes him an excellent option for West Ham to consider at the end of this campaign.
