In a recent report, Jornal de Notícias (via Sport Witness) claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have identified Porto forward Evanilson as a target. It has been stated that Spurs are eyeing a move to acquire the services of the Brazilian striker this summer.
Evanilson’s Impressive Run Of Form In Portuguese Football
Evanilson has enjoyed a productive campaign at the Portuguese club as he has managed to put in a string of fruitful displays for them in the final third. The Brazilian centre-forward has scored 24 times and picked up six assists in 41 matches for Porto this season across all competitions.
The 24-year-old has been a reliable performer in the opponent’s half based on his average of 2.6 shots, 1.1 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in Liga Portugal. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball after completing 79.4% of his attempted passes in the Portuguese top flight (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Porto will expire in the summer of 2027 which could make it difficult for Tottenham to get a deal over the line for him on the cheap in the upcoming transfer window.
What Will Evanilson Add To Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu’s Team?
Evanilson is proficient at engineering a yard of space for himself to get some strikes at goal and has got the vision to create some decent chances for his teammates on the offensive end of the field.
The Brazilian sensation has proven himself to be a capable finisher in front of the opponent’s goal and can make a few driving runs with the ball up top. However, only time will tell whether he can cope with the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football.
We can expect him to add more quality to Tottenham head coach Angelos Postecoglu’s frontline. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the North London club in the coming years.
At 24, Evanilson has his best years ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for Spurs to pursue later this summer. He has what it takes to help Tottenham compete across all fronts over the next few years. Thus, Postcoglu should consider moving in for him this year.
