Man United managed to narrowly edge out their rivals, Man City by a 2-1 margin in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium last Saturday. A goal each from Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo were enough to give the Red Devils their 13th win of the famous trophy.
Following the match, Sir Alex Ferguson was seen walking through the mixed zone where he came up with an excellent answer when requested for an interview by the media. The legendary tactician stressed that he was retired before going on to walk past all the reporters.
Sir Alex is amongst the best managers in English football history. He managed to lead Man United to 13 Premier League titles, five FA Cups, four League Cups and two UEFA Champions League triumphs during his long and successful managerial career at Old Trafford.
After the Mancunian club’s most recent FA Cup success, Erik ten Hag spoke to the media and said (via Sport Bible),
“Football is about winning trophies at the end of the day. I want to play the best football, attacking football, dynamic football. But in the end, you have to win games and trophies.
“That is the mentality we brought in and we had only one opportunity this season, in the FA Cup. I am very proud of the players and the staff because they did a fantastic job.”
The Dutch manager went on to add,
“I am proud as well, firstly of the players and the staff. The fans for the whole season, I remember at Crystal Palace a few weeks ago we were bad and they still backed us, they are incredible. I said after Brighton last week we have the best fans in the world.”
