In a recent report, Foot Mercato mentioned that Real Madrid are prepared to launch a move for Lille defender Leny Yoro this summer. It has been claimed that Los Blancos are willing to offer €30m plus bonuses to secure the services of the French centre-back later this year.
Yoro’s Decent Run Of Form In Ligue 1
Yoro has enjoyed a good run of form at Lille as he has put in a series of solid performances at the centre of their backline. The talented teenager has netted three times in 44 matches for the French outfit this season in all competitions.
The 18-year-old has been a decent performer when defending inside his half based on his average of 1.1 tackles, 1.1 interceptions and 3.0 clearances per game in Ligue 1 football. He has even been careful when distributing the ball from the back after completing 92.2% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Lille will expire at the end of next season which could open the door for Los Blancos to sign him on the cheap at the end of this season.
Is Yoro A Good Option For Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti?
Yoro is a tough-tackling defender who can read the danger well and can make a few timely interceptions for his side on the defensive third of the field. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and excels at playing his way out from the back.
The French youngster can even use his strong 1.90m frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air. However, he is still quite inexperienced and would need time to settle into life in the Spanish capital if Real Madrid manage to get him on board later this summer.
At 18, Yoro has the potential to be a future star in European football. We can expect him to inject more bite and steel into Carlo Ancelotti’s defence. Yoro might even help Los Blancos compete for a lot of major trophies over the next decade. All in all, the French whizkid would be an excellent option for the Madrid giants to consider in the long run.
