In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Real Madrid are keeping a keen eye on Manchester City full-back Yan Couto who is currently playing on loan at Girona. It has been stated that Los Blancos are eager to acquire the services of the Brazilian talent later this year.
Couto’s Impressive Loan Spell At Girona This Season
Couto is having a decent loan spell at Girona after putting in a string of impressive displays on the right side of their defence. The 21-year-old has registered two goals and picked up ten assists in 38 appearances for the Spanish outfit this season across multiple competitions.
The Brazilian youngster has caught the eye at times on the right flank by averaging 1.3 tackles, 0.5 clearances, 0.9 shots, 0.8 key passes and 1.4 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has also distributed the ball relatively well as he has made 82.3% of his attempted passes in the Spanish first division (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at his parent club Man City will run out at the end of next season which could give Real Madrid a chance to land him on a cut-price deal at the end of this campaign.
Is Couto A Good Option For Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti?
Couto is a good tackler of the ball and usually clears his lines when the opposition are on the front foot. He can shoot the ball well from long range and is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet.
The Brazilian sensation can also create some promising chances for his teammates on the offensive end of the field. He mainly plays as a right-back but can also function as a right-sided wide player if needed.
Couto is already good enough to challenge for a regular starting role in Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti’s first team. He has what it takes to be a success story at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the long run.
At 21, the future looks quite bright for Couto as long as he continues to improve with each season. Therefore, it makes sense for the Madrid giants to move in for him in the upcoming transfer window. Couto is undeniably a prospect to watch out for in the future and would be an excellent option for Los Blancos to pursue in the long run.
