In a recent report, The Telegraph stated that Newcastle United have set their sights on Wolverhampton Wanderers star Pedro Neto. It has been claimed that the Magpies are eyeing a move to recruit the Portuguese wide player this summer.
Neto’s Impressive Form In The Premier League
Neto has enjoyed a decent campaign at the Molineux Stadium but missed a lot of games due to injuries. The Portuguese talent has found the back of the net on three occasions and earned 11 assists in 24 matches for Wolves this season across various competitions.
The 24-year-old has been a good performer in the final third based on his average of 1.8 shots, 1.9 key passes and 1.9 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has also been accurate when distributing the ball from the wide areas after making 83.4% of his attempted passes in the English top flight (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Wolves will run out in the summer of 2027. Hence, Newcastle United would have to launch a convincing offer if they are serious about signing Neto this year.
What Will Neto Bring To Newcastle United?
Neto is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few dangerous runs with the ball in the opposition half. He has got the pace to cause a lot of headaches for his marker in the final third and can be a decent finisher in front of the opponent’s goal when he is playing well on the field.
The Portuguese sensation has also got the eye to play some decisive passes for his teammates up top. He is primarily a right-winger but can also operate as a left-sided wide player or as an attacking midfielder if needed.
Neto would bring more firepower to Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe’s attack. He has what it takes to be a success story at the Tyneside club in the long run. Neto has got some valuable experience in the Premier League under his belt and won’t take any time to settle into life at St. James’ Park.
At 24, Neto will only get better with each year, so the Magpies should focus on bringing him on board this summer.
