Liverpool are proactive in the market as they look their bolster their unit ahead of the next season. One of the areas they are keen on recruiting is goalkeeping. As Caoimhin Kelleher is likely to leave the club in the summer in search of game time, the Reds should bring a replacement.
The English club have reportedly identified Eredivisie club Feyenoord’s goalkeeper Justin Bijlow as one of the candidates for the role. They believe that the latter has all the traits they need and his addition will be a good move.
Who is Justin Bijlow?
Justin Bijlow came through the ranks of Feyenoord and was promoted to the senior side in the 2016-17 season. He had to wait to make his debut as it came after a year. However, once he got the opportunity, he grabbed it with both hands.
Bijlow’s impressive performances made him a first-choice goalkeeper. He is a regular feature on the team sheet and an integral part of the side. He has featured in 24 games this season and managed to keep nine clean sheets in the process.
The Dutch goalkeeper has crazy reflexes and strong hands. He is effective at stopping short as well as long powerful shots. He also takes good positions and controls his space. However, the shot-stopper needs to improve his ball distribution ability.
Will Justin Bijlow move to Liverpool?
Liverpool’s pursuit of Justin Bijlow will highly depend on the transfer of Caoimhin Kelleher. If the latter leaves in the summer, the club will have to go for a replacement. They will need someone who can be a second fiddle to Alisson Becker.
However, even Bijlow might not prefer moving to Anfield as he would like to keep playing as the first-choice keeper. Apart from the Reds, Arsenal are also keen on signing the 26-year-old goalkeeper. The Gunners would be a more attractive move than the other one.
