Liverpool have entered into a new chapter with the exit of Jurgen Klopp and the appointment of Arne Slot as the new head coach. As the Premier League club eye to strengthen their unit for next season, they have set their eyes on Aston Villa’s emerging star Jacob Ramsey, according to The Telegraph.
Jacob Ramsey’s rising graph
Jacob Ramsey came into the limelight through the ranks of Aston Villa academy. He signed his first professional contract in 2019 before making his debut for the senior side. After a series of impressive displays, he cemented his place in the squad.
Ramsey has been handy in guiding the Villans to securing a Champions League spot for next season. He featured in 21 games this season, netting once and providing two assists in the process. He is averaging 1.2 shots, 0.6 key passes, and 0.5 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).
The English footballer has been showing great signs and is getting better with each season. He is a typical box-to-box player who contributes to both aspects of the game. He can dribble and create chances for his teammates and is also excellent at tackling and blocking the ball.
Will Liverpool launch an official move for Jacob Ramsey?
Liverpool like the profile of Jacob Ramsey and want to add him to their ranks in the summer. They believe that the signing of the gifted midfielder will add a lot of value and depth to their midfield section. It could also be a long-term investment.
However, the Reds will have to offer something around £50m on the table to convince Aston Villa. The latter are reportedly ready to part ways with Diego Carlos to raise funds. But if they fail to offload him, the 23-year-old Ramsey could be the one exiting the club.
Apart from Liverpool, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are also keeping tabs on the youngster. They can give neck-to-neck competition to the former side.
