As Liverpool ends this season without adding a trophy to their cabinet, the management is about to take tough calls to prepare the group for next season. In the latest move, the Premier League club are interested in signing Leeds United’s Crysencio Summerville, as per Caught Offside.
Crysencio Summerville is a quality player
After playing his early football at Feyenoord, Crysencio Summerville moved to Leeds United in 2020 for an undisclosed fee. Since then, he has been an integral part of the side. Looking at his impressive performances, the club decided to extend his contract until 2026.
Summerville has been in terrific form in the ongoing campaign as he has netted 20 goals and provided 10 assists in 47 participations. He is averaging a whopping 3 shots, 2.6 key passes, and 2.3 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).
The Dutch winger has everything that one needs in a modern-day attacker. He links up well with his teammates and creates chances throughout the game. He is also good at dribbling and finishing in the final third. The youngster is also effective at taking set pieces and crosses.
A good addition for Liverpool
Liverpool want to add Crysencio Summerville to their ranks as the future of Mohamed Salah remains uncertain. The latter has a year left on his contract and might not sign a new deal as the interest from Saudi intensifies.
In that case, the Reds must sign a quality winger to fill the Eygptian’s position and the arrival of Summerville will help up to an extent. The 22-year-old has immense potential and has been in red-hot form this term. He can serve the club for a long period.
From the player’s point of view, Summerville won’t mind joining Liverpool as it will allow him to fight for the prestigious trophies. Even if he remains a backup in the debut season, he can cement his position in the XI once Salah leaves the club.
