In a recent tweet, former Arsenal player Jack Wilshere has responded to Jamie Carragher’s controversial take on Jurgen Klopp and Arsene Wenger. Wilshere said,
“Klopp unbelievable how he transformed Liverpool but Arsene’s legacy in the premier league is second to none. Sorry Jamie but you are miles off it, please don’t be so biased and respect Arsene and what he done over a longer period, including leading the only team in the premier league to be invincible. Everyone appreciates what Pep has done and changed the way we see football in this country but don’t forget AW had a similar effect when he came in 96! You know that era better than me and witnessed it so let’s not forget that!”
Wilshere is currently serving as the head coach of Arsenal’s Under-18 team after announcing his retirement as a footballer back in 2022. Hence, it is not a surprise that the Englishman has chosen to defend his former head coach’s legacy on Twitter.
Wilshere decided to go on Twitter to defend Arsene Wenger‘s legacy after Jamie Carragher’s recent tweet comparing Jurgen Klopp, who left Liverpool recently, to the ex-Arsenal manager. The Sky Sports pundit said,
“Klopp won the CL & got to another three finals in his career. Wenger got to one final. Wenger was a genius competing with Utd with less money, but when Chelsea came they couldn’t compete. Klopp has competed with City/United/Chelsea all spending a billion quid!!!”
Carragher is serving as a pundit at Sky Sports and has played for Liverpool for his entire playing career. He rates Jurgen Klopp to be better than Arsene Wenger. His recent comments have undoubtedly gone on to be controversial, to say the least.
However, there is no denying that both Klopp and Wenger would go down in history as two of the greatest managers in English football, so all opinions on Carragher and Wilshere’s recent comments are likely to be subjective.
