In a recent report, Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness) claimed that Everton are showing interest in Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo, who is currently playing on loan at Fiorentina. It has been mentioned that the Toffees would have to rival West Ham United in the race to land the Brazilian midfielder later this year.
Melo’s Impressive Form In Italian Football
The 27-year-old has enjoyed a solid loan spell at Fiorentina as he has managed to put in a string of impressive displays at the heart of their midfield. Melo has registered two goals and picked up four assists in 47 matches for the Florence-based club this season across various competitions.
The Brazilian talent has caught the eye at times by averaging 1.4 tackles, 0.5 interceptions and 1.0 key passes per game in Serie A. He has even distributed the ball relatively well from midfield based on his pass completion rate of 92.1% in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
Melo’s current deal at his parent club Juventus will run out in the summer of 2026. Hence, the Toffees would have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about landing the Brazilian midfield ace later this year.
What Will Melo Add To Everton Boss Sean Dyche’s Team?
Melo loves a tackle and can make the odd interception for his team when he is playing well on the pitch. He is a tidy passer of the ball as well and has got the vision to create a few decent plays for others around him in the final third.
The South American sensation mainly operates as a defensive midfielder but can also play as a box-to-box midfielder if told to do so. We can expect him to add more bite and steel to Everton boss Sean Dyche’s midfield.
Melo is good enough to compete for a regular starting spot at Goodison Park in the coming years. He previously got a taste of English football during his loan spell at Liverpool but failed to justify his worth back then.
Still, the Toffees need to add more quality to their squad, so Dyche should think about moving in for the Brazilian midfield enforcer when the transfer window commences next month.
