An emerging star in the form of Jhon Duran
After plying his trade for Envigado and Chicago Fire, Jhon Duran ended up signing for Aston Villa in the winter of 2023. He made his debut in the same season and left everyone impressed with his potential. He has earned a more prominent role this season.
Duran has featured in 37 games so far and netting eight goals. He is averaging 0.9 shots, 0.2 key passes, and 0.1 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored). He has played an integral role in helping the Villans secure a Champions League berth for next season.
The Colombian forward is clinical with his finishes near the penalty area. He has also good long-range shots and the ability to score from set pieces. A dominant figure in aerial duels, the player also tracks back whenever required to support the defence.
Chelsea will have to offer large for Jhon Duran
Chelsea have been linked with top strikers like Victor Osimhen, Viktor Gyokeres, and Ivan Toney. However, there has been no development on those signings and hence, the club might turn their head to someone else.
The Blues are at risk of losing Armando Broja and hence, they should sign someone who can play a secondary role to Nicolas Jackson. The alleged interest in Jhon Duran is for the same as the youngster will be a good pick to do the job.
Duran has massive potential and a lot of areas to improve. If he manages to improve himself with proper guidance, he can be a long-term investment for the club. However, Aston Villa aren’t looking to part ways with their hot property. Especially boss Unai Emery wants to retain the South American striker irrespective of anything.
