In a recent segment on Youtube, journalist Sercan Dikme stated that Aston Villa are eyeing a move for Besiktas attacker Ernest Muci this summer. It has been claimed that the Villans are eager to get a deal done to land the Albanian talent.
Muci’s Impressive Form In Turkish Football
Muci is enjoying a decent campaign at the Turkish club as he has produced a series of impressive displays for them deep inside the opponent’s half. The Albania international has scored 13 goals and picked up two assists in 48 appearances for Besiktas this season in all competitions.
The 23-year-old has caught the eye at times in the final third by averaging 3.2 shots, 1.2 key passes and 1.5 dribbles per game in the Turkish Super Lig. He has even distributed the ball relatively well after making 85% of his attempted passes in the top tier of Turkish football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Besiktas will expire in the summer of 2027 which would make it difficult for the Villans to acquire his services on the cheap in the upcoming transfer window.
Is Muci A Good Choice For Aston Villa?
Muci is a good dribbler with the ball and can make a few dangerous runs with the ball in the opponent’s half. He has got the vision to create a few inviting chances for his teammates in the final third and can strike the ball with venom from long range.
The Albanian sensation has done well to contribute by scoring a handful of important goals for Besiktas this season. However, he is still unproven at the highest level and would need time to settle into life in the Premier League if the Villans manage to get him on board in the summer.
We can expect Muci to add more firepower to Aston Villa boss Unai Emery’s frontline. He has what it takes to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the West Midlands club in the coming seasons.
At 23, Muci has got his best years ahead of him which makes him a decent choice for the Villans to consider in the summer transfer period. However, he might struggle to adapt to the physical side and high intensity of English football if Emery manages to bring him on board later this year.
