In a recent report, Corriere Dello Sport (via Sport Witness) revealed that agent Kia Joorabchian wants to bring his client and Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee to Arsenal. It is believed that the Gunners have an advantage in the race to acquire the services of the Dutch centre-forward ahead of the summer transfer window.
Zirkzee’s Decent Record In Italian Football This Season
Zirkzee has experienced a decent campaign at the Italian club as he has put in a series of impressive displays for them in the final third. The Dutch talent has banged in 12 goals and secured seven assists in 37 matches for Bologna this season across all competitions.
The 23-year-old has led the line well for his team and deserves some credit for averaging 2.5 shots, 1.3 key passes and 1.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even distributed possession relatively well in the final third based on his pass completion rate of 78% in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
Zirkzee’s current contract at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2026 which could make it tough for Arsenal to recruit him on a cut-price deal later this year.
Should Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Bring Zirkzee On Board?
Zirkzee is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He can be a good finisher in the final third when he is playing at the top of his game. The Dutch sensation can also create some meaningful openings for his teammates up top. He is a decent dribbler with the ball as well but only time will tell whether he can cope with the high intensity of Premier League football if the Gunners manage to snap him up this summer.
Zirkzee would add more firepower to Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta‘s frontline. He has what it takes to fight for a regular starting role at the North London club in the coming years.
At 23, the Dutch forward has the potential to be a world-class talent someday. Thus, it makes sense for the Gunners to bring Zirkzee on board when the transfer window commences next month. However, Arteta has to be patient with his development as the Bologna strike would need some time to prove his worth in England.
