With Jurgen Klopp bidding goodbye to Liverpool and Arne Slot taking charge, there will surely be a change in the taste of play, strategies and players. Even Sporting director Jorg Schmadtke left the club following the January transfer window and Richard Hughes will replace him in June.
Understandably, the Reds are set to undergo several reforms in the summer. Their trophyless season has raised a lot of questions and put them under pressure to do extremely well in the next season. Hence, they will do everything possible to build a strong unit this summer.
In that process, a few players will also be offloaded to either upgrade or raise funds. Without any further ado, let’s take a look at three names who are likely to leave the club in the summer:
1. Caoimhin Kelleher
An injury to Alisson Becker opened doors for Caoimhin Kelleher to get more game time. He featured in 26 games in this term, his highest since the 2018-19 season. Fair to say that the latter did a pretty impressive job for the club.
Reportedly, Kelleher is unhappy with the secondary role and wants to be a first-choice goalkeeper. However, it’s unlikely to happen as long as Alisson is there. Hence, he might be willing to make a switch to fulfill his dream.
The 25-year-old remains a lucrative option for many clubs and there should not be any shortage of offers for him.
2. Trent Alexander-Arnold
Trent Alexander-Arnold runs out of the contract next summer and there has been no news regarding his renewal so far. The silence from both parties could mean something the Liverpool fans wouldn’t want.
Arnold is one of the best right-backs in the world football at present and several clubs are interested in signing him. Even Real Madrid have shown interest in getting his signature.
If a lucrative offer arrives, the Reds might be tempted to offload him. The right-back has achieved almost everything in English football. Hence, moving to Spain could be a motivation move apart from teaming up with best friend Jude Bellingham.
3. Thiago Alcantara
It seems like Thiago Alcantara‘s time at Liverpool is over as there has been no contract renewal. The club showed no interest in keeping him anymore as he has been struggling with injuries for a long and might not add any value to the squad.
With interest heating up from Barcelona, Alcantara is very much set to leave the Reds. He has had a good four-year spell at Anfield. With 98 appearances for them, he has served them well.
