In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that West Ham United are facing tough competition for Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi. It has been revealed that the Hammers would have to rival Newcastle United and Aston Villa in the race to land the Nigerian talent later this year.
Ndidi’s Impressive Numbers In The EFL Championship
The 27-year-old has enjoyed a decent campaign at the King Power Stadium after he put in a run of impressive performances for the Foxes in the middle of the park. Ndidi has registered six goals and picked up six assists in 34 appearances for Leicester this season across various competitions.
The Nigerian midfield ace has caught the eye in both halves and deserves some credit for averaging 1.2 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 1.4 shots and 0.9 key passes per 90 minutes in the EFL Championship. He has even been excellent when distributing the ball from midfield, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 81.4% in the second tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Midlands club will run out at the end of this campaign which could give West Ham a chance to land Ndidi on a free transfer later this year.
West Ham United Are Facing Tough Competition For Ndidi: Is He Worth The Fight?
Ndidi loves a tackle and can make the odd interception for his team in the middle of the park. He usually clears the danger when needed and can shoot the ball with venom from long range.
The Nigeria international has got the vision to create a few promising chances for his teammates in the final third and is a good dribbler with the ball as well. He is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also play as a box-to-box midfielder or as a central defender if told to do so.
Ndidi would add more bite and steel to West Ham‘s midfield department. He is good enough to help the Hammers compete across all fronts in the coming years. Ndidi has already got some Premier League experience under his belt and would be a real asset in West Ham’s squad next season. Hence, the Nigerian would be well worth the fight as he would be available on a free transfer.
