In a recent report, Serbian news outlet MaxBet Sports mentioned that West Ham United are keen on recruiting RCD Mallorca custodian Predrag Rajkovic this summer. It has been stated that the Hammers would have to rival Aston Villa in the race to land the Serbian keeper this summer.
Rajkovic’s Impressive Form In La Liga This Season
The 28-year-old is having a solid campaign at the Spanish club after putting in a series of impressive displays for them in La Liga. Rajkovic deserves some credit for keeping eight clean sheets and conceding 35 goals in 29 matches for Mallorca in league football this season.
The Serbian goalie has done well to average 0.8 clearances and 10.2 long balls per 90 minutes in La Liga football. However, he has been sloppy when distributing the ball from inside his half after completing just 55.3% of his attempted passes in the top tier of Spanish football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Mallorca will run out in the summer of 2026. Thus, West Ham would have to launch a convincing offer if they are serious about recruiting Rajkovic later this year.
Is Rajkovic A Decent Choice For West Ham United Boss David Moyes?
Rajkovic can be a decent pair of hands in between the sticks when he is playing with confidence on the field. He is a good handler of the ball and can use his quick reflexes to make some important saves for his team.
The Serbian goalkeeper doesn’t hesitate to put his foot through the ball when at risk of being caught out at the back. However, he needs to figure out a way to improve his ball distribution from inside his half.
We can expect Rajkovic to add more quality to West Ham‘s goalkeeping department if he can make a smooth transition to life in England. He is good enough to fight for a regular starting spot at the London Stadium in the coming seasons. Plus, Rajkovic would serve as an ideal replacement for Lukasz Fabianski who has entered the final stage of his playing career at the East London club.
At 28, the Serbia international is playing in his prime. Thus, he would be an ideal choice for the Hammers to consider when the transfer window commences at the end of this campaign.
