In a recent report, Tuttosport (via Sport Witness) stated that Tottenham Hotspur are facing tough competition for Leece full-back Patrick Dorgu this summer. It is understood that Spurs would have to rival AC Milan and Juventus in the race to land the Danish defender later this year.
Dorgu’s Impressive Form In Serie A This Season
Dorgu is having a solid campaign at the Italian club after he put in a series of impressive displays on the left side of their defence. The 19-year-old has done well to score two goals and secure one assist in 29 appearances for Lecce this season in all competitions.
The Danish talent has caught the eye at times on the left flank and deserves credit for averaging 1.3 tackles, 1.1 clearances, 0.6 key passes and 0.6 dribbles per game in Serie A. He was even accurate when distributing possession from the back based on his pass completion rate of 84% in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2027. Hence, Tottenham will have to make a big offer if they are serious about acquiring the services of the Danish left-back in the upcoming transfer window.
Tottenham Hotspur Are Facing Stiff Competition For Dorgu: Is He Worth The Fight?
Dorgu is a solid tackler of the ball and doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive. He has got the eye to create the odd chance for his teammates from the left flank and is a good dribbler with the ball as well.
The Danish youngster is primarily a left-back but can also fill in as a left-sided wide player if asked to do so by his manager. We can expect him to add some serious competition for Destiny Udogie at Tottenham Hotspur if Angelos Postecoglu can find a way to bring him on board at the end of this campaign.
At 19, Dorgu has the potential to become a future star at the North London club. Hence, he would be well worth the fight, so Spurs should focus on going all out to recruit him later this summer.
