In a recent report, The Daily Mail mentioned that Real Madrid are facing stiff competition for Red Bull Leipzig playmaker Dani Olmo this summer. It has been claimed that Los Blancos would have to rival Manchester United and Chelsea in the race to land the Spanish attacker in the upcoming transfer window.
Olmo’s Decent Form In German Football This Season
Olmo has managed to put in a series of impressive displays for Leipzig in the final third. The 25-year-old has banged in seven goals and picked up four assists in 19 appearances for the German outfit this season across all fronts.
The Spanish talent has caught the eye at times in the final third by averaging 1.7 shots, 1.3 key passes and 1.3 dribbles per game in Bundesliga. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half after making 79% of his attempted passes in the German top-flight (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the German club will expire in the summer of 2027. Thus, it won’t be easy for Los Blancos to win the race for his services in the summer.
Is Olmo A Good Choice For Real Madrid?
Olmo excels at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to engineer some inviting chances for others around him in the opponent’s half. The Spaniard is a good dribbler with the ball as well. He mainly functions in the number ten position but can also play as a winger on either flank if asked to do so by his manager.
Olmo would bring more goals and creativity to Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti’s attack. He has the quality to earn a regular starting spot at the Madrid club in the coming seasons.
At 25, Olmo has got his best years ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for Los Blancos to pursue in the summer. He has what it takes to help Ancelotti’s side challenge for some major honours over the next few years.
Will all things considered, the Spanish playmaker would be a decent choice for the Madrid outfit to consider later this year. However, Ancelotti should only sign him if he can get him for a reasonable fee at the end of this campaign.
