Aston Villa have been doing decent in the Premier League this season so far. Though they don’t have a clear-cut chance of lifting the domestic cup, they are very much in power to secure a Champions League berth for next season.
The Villans are fourth in the points table with 59 points after 30 rounds of play. Their next fixture is an away clash with Manchester City this week. They should continue focusing on securing points and not let Tottenham Hotspur surpass them anytime soon.
4-4-2 Aston Villa Predicted Lineup Vs Manchester City
Defence
Emiliano Martinez is the undisputed pick as the goalkeeper for Aston Villa. He showed great resistance to keep a clean sheet in the previous game against Wolves. No doubt, he will be a vital man for them once again. Ezri Konsa had an impressive game and even found the back of the net. He is likely to retain his spot as the right-back.
No changes in the centre-back duo as Diego Carlo and Pau Torres take onto the field. They will have to be on their toes to stop City’s recurring threats. Expect Lucas Digne to start as the left-back instead of Alex Moreno.
Midfield
While Youri Tielemans and Douglas Luiz operate at the centre positions, Morgan Rogers and Leon Bailey take care of the wide areas. All four have been decent for the Villans this season and should carry good confidence against Pep Guardiola’s men.
Attack
Unai Emery will not have the services of Ollie Watkins, who suffered a hamstring injury. While the scan reports are yet to come, he is unlikely to feature against the Citizens. Jhon Duran should be filling his spot and partnering with Moussa Diaby in the front.
Tyrone Mings (knee), Boubacar Kamara (knee), Emiliano Buendia (knee), Matty Cash (thigh) and John McGinn (ban) are the other notable absentees. Jacob Ramsey could be marking his comeback from an ankle injury.
