In a recent report, InterLive.it revealed that Newcastle United are keen on recruiting Inter Milan wide player Denzel Dumfries. It has been stated that the Magpies are eyeing a move to bring the Dutch talent to St. James’ Park this summer.
Dumfries’ Decent Run Of Form In Serie A
Dumfries is having a good campaign at San Siro after he put in a run of solid performances on the right side of Inter’s midfield. The 27-year-old has scored three goals and picked up five assists in 29 matches for the Italian giants this season in all competitions.
The Dutch talent has given a good account of himself on the right wing based on his average of 0.8 tackles, 0.9 clearances, 0.7 shots, 1.0 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per game in Serie A football. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball after completing 79.1% of his attempted passes in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Milan club will expire in the summer of 2025 which could open the door for Newcastle to try and land him on a cut-price deal in the upcoming transfer period.
Should Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe Snap Dumfries Up This Summer?
Dumfries loves a tackle and doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot. He can strike the ball with a lot of power from long range and can engineer some decent chances for his teammates from the right flank.
The Dutch sensation is a powerful runner with the ball but needs to find a way to improve his offensive numbers. However, he deserves credit for chipping in by scoring and creating a handful of important goals for Inter Milan this season.
Dumfries mainly plays as a right-sided wide player but can also operate as a right-back if required. Hence, he would be a great signing for the Magpies to pull off at the end of this season. At 27, the Dutch sensation is about to enter his prime soon.
Dumfries would add more quality to Newcastle United‘s midfield department and help the Magpies challenge across all fronts in the coming seasons. Thus, Eddie Howe would be wise to go all out to snap him up in the summer transfer window.
