In a recent interview with Villa News, pundit Alan Hutton urged Aston Villa to let Tim Iroegbunam leave this summer. Hutton said,
“I think possibly they’ll look at it.
“I think Ajax, I watched them for a couple of games and that fits their bill. Young, room to move and improve, the potential is there. That’s what they look for within their squad, they’re such a young team but a massive team.
“They’re trying to rebuild so it should be a good move for him (Tim Iroegbunam) because he’s going to get the gametime. At Villa, yes he’s breaking through and there’s definitely potential for him to hit the next level, it’s just whether the manager sees that right now or is it in the future.
“Can he get to the level that Unai Emery is looking for? There’s a lot of question marks there to be answered before he probably decides whether he is to leave or not.
“Look, it comes down to money. Money talks, it is as simple as that. If they feel the money coming in for him is worth it, they’ll definitely have a look at it.
“I don’t like seeing them sell off too many youth academy products, I do like seeing them break into the first team.”
Iroegbunam is having a frustrating campaign at Villa Park as he has struggled to nail down a regular starting spot in Unai Emery’s first XI. He has made ten appearances for the West Midlands club this season but has failed to score or assist a goal for them in multiple competitions.
His current contract at Aston Villa will expire in the summer of 2027. Hence, Unai Emery is under no immediate need to cash in on him later this year.
Should Aston Villa Boss Unai Emery Cash In On Iroegbunam?
Iroegbunam is full of energy and running at the centre of the park and usually works hard for his team defensively. The English talent can shoot the ball purely from long range and can make some clever runs with the ball when he is playing with confidence on the pitch.
However, Unai Emery cannot afford to offer him regular first-team starts in the Premier League at the moment. Thus, it is only fair to the player if the Villans let him go at the end of this season.
At 20, Iroegbunam has got the ceiling to become a future star in Europe. Still, Emery should consider cashing in on him if he receives a favourable offer for his services this summer.
