In a recent report, Tuttosport revealed that Aston Villa are keen on recruiting Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso. It has been stated that the Villans are showing interest in acquiring the services of the Italian talent this summer.
Cambiaso’s Impressive Season In Italian Football
Cambiaso is enjoying a decent campaign at the Turin club after putting in a series of impressive displays on the left side of their backline. The 24-year-old has registered three goals and picked up five assists in 30 appearances for Juve this season in multiple competitions.
The Italian talent has caught the eye in both halves as he is averaging 1.2 tackles, 0.7 clearances, 0.9 shots, 0.8 key passes and 0.7 dribbles per game in Serie A. He has also been careful when distributing the ball from the left flank based on his pass success rate of 87.8% in the Italian first division (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Turin club will run out in the summer of 2027 which would make it difficult for the Villans to sign him on a cut-price deal at the end of this season.
What Will Cambiaso Add To Aston Villa Boss Unai Emery’s Team?
Cambiaso is a good tackler of the ball and doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed. He can strike the ball well from long range and can create some decent chances for his teammates up top. The Italian sensation is a decent dribbler with the ball as well. He mainly functions as a left-back but can also serve as a right-back or play as a left-sided wide player if told to do so by his manager.
Cambiaso would add more quality and depth to Aston Villa boss Unai Emery’s match-day squad. He has what it takes to fight for a regular starting place at Villa Park next season. However, there are some concerns over whether he can adapt to the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football.
At 24, Cambiaso has got his prime years ahead of him which makes him a great choice for the Villans to pursue in the upcoming transfer window. However, Emery would have to be patient with his progress before he can unlock the best out of the player at the West Midlands club in the coming years.
