In a recent report, The Evening Standard revealed that Arsenal have identified Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes as a target for the upcoming transfer window. It is understood that the Gunners are showing interest in recruiting the Brazilian midfield ace later this year.
Guimaraes’ Impressive Run Of Form At St. James’ Park
Guimaraes is having a solid campaign at the Tyneside club after putting in a series of impressive displays for them in the middle of the park. The Brazilian talent has played in 45 matches for Newcastle this season, netting four goals and grabbing eight assists in all competitions.
The 26-year-old has been a decent performer for Newcastle as he is averaging 2.3 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 0.6 clearances, 1.2 shots, 1.6 key passes and 2.0 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball from midfield based on his pass completion rate of 85.7% in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at St. James’ Park will expire in the summer of 2028. Hence, Arsenal would have to launch a big offer if they want to get the Brazilian sensation on board at the end of this campaign.
Should Arsenal Head Coach Mikel Arteta Snap Guimaraes Up This Summer?
Guimaraes is a solid tackler of the ball and can make some timely interceptions for his team in the middle of the park. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and can strike the ball with power from long range.
The Brazilian midfielder has got the vision to engineer a few promising chances for his teammates in the opponent’s half and is a good dribbler with the ball as well. We can expect Guimaraes to enhance the quality of Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta’s midfield department.
The South American sensation might even go on to form a dominant midfield partnership with Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard at the North London club next season. Therefore, the Gunners should go all out to snap Guimaraes up in the summer transfer window.
At 26, Guimaraes has got his peak years ahead of him which makes him a good choice for the North London giants to pursue at the end of this season.
