In a recent edition of The Spurs Chat Podcast, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano stated that Tottenham Hotspur have a concrete interest in Barcelona winger Raphinha. Romano said,
“For Raphinha it could be different. For Raphinha, Tottenham’s interest is concrete. It’s important to see the financial situation of Barcelona at the end of April to see how much profit they want to make on their players, especially with Raphinha, because they paid big money to sign Raphinha from Leeds, so they have to make profit if they want to sell players.
“Raphinha, for sure, is a player who is really appreciated by Tottenham, but before entering talks they have to understand Barcelona’s plan for this deal, because it is not clear yet.”
Raphinha’s Impressive Run Of Form In Spanish Football
Raphinha has enjoyed a decent campaign at the Nou Camp as he has put in a series of impressive displays for Barca in the final third. The 27-year-old has registered five goals and grabbed ten assists in 28 matches for the Catalan club this season across multiple competitions.
The Brazil international has given a good account of himself in the opponent’s half based on his average of 2.0 shots, 1.5 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even been tidy with his ball distribution after making 79.5% of his attempted passes in the Spanish first division (stats via whoscored).
Is Raphinha A Decent Choice For Tottenham Hotspur?
Raphinha can use his quickness to get the better of his marker out on the flanks. He is an excellent dribbler with the ball and can be a hard man to stop when he is running in full swing in the opponent’s half.
The Brazilian sensation can shoot the ball with power from long range and can create some inviting chances for others around him in the final third. He is primarily a right-winger but can also function as a left-sided wide player if asked to do so.
Raphinha would bring more firepower to Tottenham boss Angelos Postecoglu’s frontline. He is good enough to earn a regular starting spot at the North London club in the coming seasons. At 27, Raphinha is playing in his prime and knows the Premier League well from his time at Leeds United. Hence, he would be a great choice for Spurs to consider in the summer.
