In a recent report, Mondo Udinese mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur could land Udinese Calcio wide player Festy Ebosele for just €15m in the summer. It has been claimed that that Spurs have a good relationship with the Italian club which could give them an edge in pursuit of the Irish youngster.
Ebosele’s Impressive Form In Serie A This Season
Ebosele has experienced a solid campaign at the Italian club after putting in a string of influential displays for them on the right flank. The 21-year-old has picked up one assist in 26 matches for Udinese this season across all competitions.
The talented wide player has been a decent performer in both halves as he is averaging 1.2 tackles, 0.8 clearances, 0.5 shots, 0.6 key passes and 1.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. However, he has lacked quality when distributing possession from the right flank after making just 71% of his attempted passes in the top tier of Italian football (stats via whoscored).
Ebosele’s current deal at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2027 which could make it tough for Spurs to sign him on the cheap in the summer.
Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu Move In For Ebosele?
Ebosele is a tough-tackling footballer who can read the danger quickly inside his half and doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed. He can make a few driving runs with the ball on the right flank and can create the odd chance for his teammates up top.
The Irish sensation has mainly played as a right-sided wide player for Udinese this season. However, he can also play as a right-back or as a left-back if needed. His quality and versatility make him a worthy target for Spurs to consider in the summer.
At 21, Ebosele has the potential to become a future star at the highest level. Thus, it makes sense for Tottenham head coach Angelos Postecoglu to move in for him at the end of this campaign. He would add more quality to the North London club‘s match-day squad and might help them challenge across all fronts in the coming years. However, there are some concerns over whether he can make a smooth transition to life in England.
