In a recent report, Sport claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are showing interest in Barcelona starlet Dani Rodriguez. It has been stated that Spurs are eyeing a move to recruit the Spanish wide player in the summer.
Rodriguez’s Recent Rise At Barcelona
Rodriguez has come through Barcelona’s youth system and has done well to establish himself as an important member of their Under-19 team. The 18-year-old has caught the eye for them in European youth football this season.
The talented teenager deserves a ton of credit for finding the back of the net four times and securing three assists in 13 appearances for the Catalan club in the UEFA Youth League during this campaign.
His current contract at the Catalan club will run out at the end of this campaign which could open the door for Spurs to snap him up on a free transfer in the summer.
Tottenham Hotspur Are Showing Interest In Rodriguez: Is He A Star In The Making?
Rodriguez is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few eye-catching runs with the ball out on the flanks. He can create the odd chance for his teammates to score and can strike the ball with power from long range.
The Spanish prospect is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also play as a right-winger or operate as a box-to-box midfielder if told to do so. However, he is still quite raw and would need time to prove himself in top-flight football. Still, there is no denying that Rodriguez has got a bright future ahead in European football.
Thus, it makes sense for Spurs to try and bring him on board when he becomes a free agent at the end of this campaign. At 18, Rodriguez is undoubtedly a star in the making which makes him a worthy target for the North London club to pursue in the long run.
However, Tottenham head coach Angelos Postecoglu would have to be patient with his progress before he can unlock the best out of the youngster in English football. All in all, Rodriguez would be a great, long-term signing for the London giants to pull off this summer.
