In a recent report, journalist Pete O’Rourke claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to move in for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher. It has been stated that Spurs are hoping to sign the English playmaker when the transfer window reopens later this year.
Gallagher’s Impressive Run Of Form In English Football
Gallagher is having a decent campaign at Stamford Bridge as he has managed to put in a run of impressive displays at the centre of the park. The 24-year-old has registered four goals and picked up seven assists in 38 appearances for the West London giants this season in multiple competitions.
The Epsom-born talent has been a decent performer in the middle of the park based on his average of 2.6 tackles, 1.3 interceptions, 0.5 clearances, 1.3 shots, 1.5 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has even been accurate when distributing possession from midfield after completing 90.7% of his attempted passes in the English top flight (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Stamford Bridge will run out in the summer of 2025. Hence, Spurs could potentially land him on a cut-price deal at the end of this campaign.
Is Gallagher A Good Choice For Tottenham Hotspur?
Gallagher is a tough-tackling midfielder who can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team at the centre of the park. He doesn’t mind clearing the danger when needed and can shoot the ball with venom and accuracy from long range.
The English talent has got the vision to engineer a few inviting chances for his teammates in the final third and is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet. We can expect Gallagher to add more energy and dynamism to Tottenham boss Angelos Postecoglu’s attack. He has what it takes to earn a regular starting spot at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
At 24, Gallagher has his best years ahead of him which makes him a great choice for Spurs to pursue at the end of this campaign. He has got enough experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to settle into life at the London club if Postecoglu can devise a way to snap him up this summer.
