Premier League club Newcastle United have joined the race for AC Milan wonder kid Francesco Camarda, according to Calciomercato. The likes of Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool are already keeping tabs on the player.
Francesco Camarda is a hot property
Francesco Camarda is one of the hottest properties emerging from Italian football in recent times. He rose through the ranks of AC Milan youth academy and even went on to debut for the senior team. Though he is not a regular member of the A team, he was given a chance last winter due to injuries.
Aged 15 years and 260 days, Camarda became the youngest player ever to feature in a Serie A match. He currently plays for Milan’s U19 side and has featured in 33 games this season. In those many appearances, he netted 12 goals and also provided four assists.
The 16-year-old plays as a centre-forward and is clinical in the final third. His solid performances at a young age have caught the attention of the major European clubs. While many wish to lure him away, his current employers will not let him go so easily.
Complications for signing Francesco Camarda
Francesco Camarda was expected to sign his first professional contract with AC Milan just after he turned 16. However, the contract hasn’t been signed yet. Things can fall apart especially after Zlatan Ibrahimovic is about to take charge of the club’s operations.
The former international doesn’t share a good relationship with Camarda’s agent. In such a scenario, the youngster might not hesitate to switch the club. Newcastle United can take advantage of the situation to their benefit.
The English side are keen on acquiring his signature and have him in the first team in two years. However, Camarda cannot play for a Premier League club until he turns 18 due to rules. Hence, the Magpies will have to find an alternative way to secure his deal.
