In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Newcastle United are set to rival Arsenal for Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo. It has been revealed that the Magpies are willing to pay the Japanese wide player’s €60m release clause to land him in the summer.
Kubo’s Impressive Run Of Form In La Liga
Kubo is having a decent campaign at the Spanish club after putting in a series of impressive displays for them in the final third. The Japanese sensation has found the back of the net on seven occasions and secured four assists in 31 appearances for Real Sociedad this season across all fronts.
The 22-year-old has been a consistent performer on the right flank as he is averaging 2.0 shots, 2.1 key passes and 2.0 dribbles per game in La Liga. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half after completing 81.5% of his attempted passes in the top tier of Spanish football (stats via whoscored).
Kubo’s current contract at the Spanish club will expire in the summer of 2029, so the Magpies would have no choice but to activate his €60m release clause if they want to sign him permanently at the end of this campaign.
Should Newcastle United Head Coach Eddie Howe Snap Kubo Up?
Kubo is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs with the ball out in the wide areas. He has got the eye to play a few decisive passes on the offensive end of the field and can shoot the ball with power and accuracy from long range.
The Japan international has done well to contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals for Real Sociedad this season. He is primarily a right-winger but can also function as a left-sided wide player or play in the number ten position if told to do so.
Kubo would add more firepower to Newcastle boss Eddie Howe’s attack and would help the Tyneside club compete across all competitions in the coming years. At 22, he has the potential to become a world-class winger someday. Thus, it makes sense for the Magpies to go all out to snap Kubo up in the summer transfer window.
