Chelsea will take on Leicester City at the Stamford Bridge in the quarter-final round of the FA Cup. They showed great resistance against Newcastle United to secure three points in their last game. To bring a similar outcome, they will get onto the field on Sunday.
The Blues are hovering below 10th position in the domestic league, meaning they cannot obtain much from it. Hence, the FA Cup becomes even more crucial for them this season. A win will take them a step closer to the trophy and enhance their ongoing below-par campaign.
4-2-3-1 Chelsea Predicted Lineup Vs Leicester City
Defence
Robert Sanchez could reclaim his position in the goal, sending Djordje Petrovic to the bench. Whoever gets the final go, it shouldn’t be a problem for Chelsea. Malo Gusto is likely to be retained at the right-back position despite a dismal outing last time.
Axel Disasi and Trevoh Chalobah are going to start as the centre-backs in the side. Benoit Badiashile (groin) and Ben Chilwell (knee) have returned to training but Mauricio Pochettino wouldn’t risk them. No change in the left-back spot as Marc Cucurella continues his operations.
Midfield
Conor Gallagher will be dropping down in the absence of suspended Enzo Fernandez. Moises Caicedo is the other holding midfielder in the side.
Raheem Sterling might find himself lucky to start despite having a below-par performance against Newcastle United. While Cole Palmer is an automatic pick, Mykhailo Mudryk should be walking into the XI to take Gallagher’s spot up front.
Attack
Nicolas Jackson remains the leader of the attacking line for the Blues. He showed good football and should be ready for the next challenge.
Wesley Fofana (knee), Reece James (thigh), Lesley Ugochukwu (hamstring), Levi Colwill (toe), Romeo Lavia (thigh), Christopher Nkunku (thigh) and Cesare Casadei are the notable absentees.
