In a recent report, Corriere dello Sport stated that Manchester United have set their sights on Juventus talent Gleison Bremer. It has been claimed that the Red Devils have identified the Brazilian defender as their primary target for the upcoming transfer window.
Bremer’s Impressive Form In Italian Football This Season
Bremer has enjoyed a solid season at the Allianz Stadium as he has managed to put in a run of impressive displays for Juve on the defensive third of the pitch. The 27-year-old has appeared in 29 matches for Juventus during this campaign, finding the back of the net twice in various competitions.
The Brazilian sensation has been a rock at the back and deserves a ton of credit for averaging 1.8 tackles, 1.3 interceptions and 3.9 clearances per 90 minutes in Sere A. He has even been accurate when distributing the possession from inside his half based on his pass completion rate of 86.7% in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Italian club will expire in 2028 which could make it tough for Man United to sign him on the cheap in the summer transfer window.
Is Bremer A Good Signing For Manchester United?
Bremer loves a tackle and can read the danger well to secure possession back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t hesitate to clear his lines when the opposition are on the offensive. Standing at 1.88m, the Brazilian defender can be a dominant presence in the air as well. He can even play his way out from the back.
We can expect Bremer to add more bite and steel to Man United boss Erik ten Hag’s defensive department. He is good enough to fight for a regular first-team spot at the Mancunian club in the coming years.
Bremer would serve as a good replacement for Harry Maguire who has struggled to be consistent at Old Trafford this season. At 27, the Brazilian defensive ace is playing some of his best football at the moment which makes him a decent signing for the Red Devils to pull off this summer. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in Premier League football if ten Hag can secure his services.
