In a recent report, Fichajes stated that Manchester City are keen on recruiting Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes. It has been claimed that the Mancunian club are eager to acquire the services of the Brazilian midfield ace this summer.
Guimaraes’ Decent Run Of Form In The Premier League This Season
Guimaraes is having a solid campaign at the Tyneside club after he put in a series of impressive displays for them in the middle of the park. The 26-year-old has registered three goals and picked up seven assists in 40 matches for Newcastle this season across various competitions.
The Brazilian talent has been a good performer in both halves as he is averaging 2.0 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 0.6 clearances, 1.1 shots, 1.5 key passes and 1.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He was even accurate when distributing possession from midfield based on his pass success rate of 86.1% in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at St. James’ Park will run out in the summer of 2028. Hence, Man City would have to make a big offer if they are to convince the Magpies to part ways with their prized asset in the upcoming transfer period.
What Will Guimaraes Add To Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola’s Side?
Guimaraes can get stuck in with a few crunching tackles to make life difficult for the opposition at the centre of the park. He can make some timely interceptions for his team and can even shoot the ball with power and precision from long range. The Brazilian sensation can even create a handful of inviting chances for others around him in the opponent’s half. He is a good dribbler with the ball as well.
At the moment, Guimaraes is playing some of his best football at Newcastle. Thus, it makes sense for Man City to try and arrange a move for him when the transfer window reopens at the end of this campaign.
Guimaraes would add more quality and depth to Pep Guardiola‘s midfield department. He might even help the Mancunian club challenge for some major trophies over the next few years. At 26, Guimaraes’ peak years are ahead of him which makes him a worthy option for Man City to consider later this year.
