In a recent report, Fiorentina.it claimed that Manchester City are facing tough competition for Fiorentina full-back Michael Kayode. It has been revealed that the Mancunian giants would have to rival Arsenal, Inter Milan and AC Milan in pursuit of the Italian talent in the summer transfer window.
Kayode’s Impressive Form In Serie A This Season
The 19-year-old is having a decent season at the Italian club after putting in a few eye-catching displays on the right side of their defence. Kayode has found the back of the net once and secured three assists in 25 appearances for Fiorentina during this campaign across multiple competitions.
The talented youngster has performed his defensive duties well at right-back based on his average of 2.2 tackles, 0.8 interceptions and 1.7 clearances per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even distributed the ball relatively well after completing 85.2% of his attempted passes in the top tier of Italian football (stats via whoscored).
Kayode is under contract at the Italian club until the summer of 2028 which would make it difficult for Man City to land him on a cut-price deal later this year.
Manchester City Are Facing Tough Competition For Kayode: Is He Worth The Fight?
Kayode is a tough-tackling full-back who can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive.
The Italian sensation can even make some driving runs with the ball on the right flank. He is primarily a right-back but can also operate as a right-sided wide player or as a left-back if asked to do so by his manager.
At the moment, Kayode is playing some of the best football of his young career. Hence, he would be a terrific, long-term addition to Man City‘s squad this summer. Kayode has what it takes to serve as an ideal understudy to Kyle Walker at the Mancunian club.
At 19, the Italian defensive ace has the potential to become a future star at the highest level. Thus, Pep Guardiola would be wise to bring him to the Etihad Stadium at the end of this season. There is no doubt that Kayode is well worth the fight, so the Premier League giants should go all out to recruit him later this year.
