Premier League club Liverpool have registered their interest in signing Atalanta midfielder Ederson, as per a report published in Fichajes. The club want to reinforce their midfield unit and find the youngster a perfect fit in the scheme of things.
The Reds will have to fight with the likes of AC Milan, Inter Milan, Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona. All these major clubs are convinced of the Brazilian’s talent and are running behind his signature.
Ederson is a great talent
Ederson came through the ranks of the Brazilian system and represented many clubs before signing for Atalanta in the summer of 2022. Following his impressive performances, he has secured a regular starting position in the Italian side.
The 24-year-old has appeared in 36 games, scoring six goals and assisting once. He is averaging 1.1 shots, 0.7 key passes and 0.7 dribbles per game. Better known for his defensive work, he has an average of 2.4 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 0.9 clearances per game (stats via whoscored).
Ederson is very good at reading the game and making interceptions to defuse building threats from the opposition. Having a strong physical, he is also top-notch in tackling and winning aerial duels. Needless to say, he would be an ideal fit in the demanding English league.
Ederson would be an ideal fit for Liverpool
Though Ederson has two years left in his contract with Atalanta, he would be willing to switch to lift his professional career. The Italian club want around €50 million to release the player. Liverpool have the resources to fund the buy in the summer.
With Thiago Alcantara potentially leaving the club following this season, the Reds will need to bring in a fresh name. The arrival of Ederson will allow other midfielders to play in a much more advanced position. However, the call will probably be taken by Jurgen Klopp‘s successor, who is yet to be announced by the club.
