In a recent report, The Mirror claimed that Bayern Munich talent Jamal Musiala has rejected a new contract offer from the German club amid interest from Manchester City and Liverpool. It has been claimed that the Mancunian club are keeping tabs on the German attacker in the summer.
Musiala’s Impressive Run Of Form In German Football
Musiala is having a decent campaign at the German club after putting in a run of impressive performances in the final third. The 21-year-old has scored nine times and picked up four assists in 28 appearances for Bayern this season in multiple competitions.
The Stuttgart-born talent has been a consistent performer in the opponent’s half as he is averaging 2.3 shots, 1.5 key passes and 3.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in Bundesliga. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball in the attacking end of the field based on his pass success rate of 82% in the German top-flight (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the German club will run out in the summer of 2026. Hence, Man City would have to make a big offer if they want to win the race for Musiala in the upcoming transfer window.
Should Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola Snap Musiala Up?
Musiala is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can create some meaningful openings for his teammates in and around the opponent’s penalty area. He can even strike the ball with power from long-range and can contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals up top.
The German international mainly functions in the number ten position but can also serve as a box-to-box midfielder or as a left-winger if needed. At 21, he has the potential to become one of the best players in his position someday.
Thus, it is a no-brainer for Man City boss Pep Guardiola to try and snap Musiala up in the summer transfer period. He has what it takes to be a success story at the Etihad Stadium in the long run. However, only time will tell whether Musiala can cope with the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football if Man City manage to win the race for his services.
