In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Barcelona have been offered a chance to land Manchester United winger Antony. It has been stated that the Catalan club have been handed an opportunity to bring the Brazilian wide player to the Nou Camp this summer.
Antony’s Growing Struggles In English Football
Antony has experienced a tough season at Old Trafford as he has struggled to find consistency with his performances for Man United in the final third. The Brazilian talent has featured in 30 matches for the Mancunian club during this campaign, scoring two goals and grabbing one assist on all fronts.
The 24-year-old has caught the eye at times out on the wide areas based on his average of 1.2 shots, 0.7 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even been accurate when interchanging possession with his teammates after making 78.5% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Mancunian club will expire in the summer of 2027 which would make it difficult for Barcelona to land him on the cheap later this year.
Is Antony A Good Option For Barcelona?
Antony is a decent dribbler with the ball and can make some dangerous runs out on the flanks when he is playing with confidence on the pitch. He has got the eye to play a few decisive passes on the offensive end of the field and can even shoot the ball with power and accuracy from long range. However, the lack of consistency has been his biggest problem at Man United which is something he needs to address soon.
We can expect Antony to bring more firepower to Barcelona‘s frontline. He is good enough to challenge for a regular starting spot at the Nou Camp. He is currently on a long-term contract at Old Trafford, so Barca should only consider arranging a loan move for him and they might struggle to fund a permanent move for the former Ajax sensation in the summer.
At 24, Antony will only get better in the coming seasons. Therefore, he would be a decent option for the Catalan club to pursue at the end of this campaign.
