In a recent report, Il Messaggero (via Siamo La Roma) mentioned that Aston Villa are ready to move in for AS Roma star Paulo Dybala. It has been claimed that the Villans are prepared to make a move for the Argentine attacker but would face competition in the form of Bayer 04 Leverkusen and other Saudi clubs in pursuit of him.
Dybala’s Impressive Form In Italian Football This Season
Dybala has put in a series of productive displays as the spearhead of Roma’s attack during this campaign. The South American forward has netted 14 goals and grabbed seven assists in 28 matches for the Italian outfit this season across multiple competitions.
The 30-year-old has been a reliable performer in the final third and has done well to average 2.3 shots, 1.8 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per game in Serie A. He has even been accurate when distributing possession in the opponent’s half after completing 85.1% of his attempted passes in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
Dybala’s current deal at the Italian club will expire at the end of next season which could give Aston Villa a chance to sign him on a cut-price deal this summer.
What Will Dybala Add To Aston Villa Boss Unai Emery’s Team?
Dybala can create some space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal and has got the vision to engineer a few decent chances for his teammates to find the back of the net. He can make some driving runs with the ball as well when he is playing with confidence on the pitch.
The Argentine sensation has got a wealth of experience at the highest level and could be a real asset in Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery’s squad next season. At 30, Dybala has still got a few good years left in him to play at a high level.
The South American sensation would add more goals and dynamism to the West Midlands club‘s frontline. He has what it takes to rival Ollie Watkins for a regular first-team spot at Villa Park in the coming years. With all things considered, Emery should look to sign Dybala on the cheap in this upcoming transfer window.
