In a recent report, TRT Sport claimed that Arsenal are set to rival Napoli for Fenerbahce full-back Ferdi Kadioglu. It has been stated that the Gunners are eyeing a move to bring the Turkish defender to North London in the summer.
Kadioglu’s Impressive Form In Turkish Football
The 24-year-old is experiencing a solid campaign at the Turkish club during this campaign after he put in a string of impressive displays on the left side of their defence. Kadioglu has scored three goals and earned four assists in 41 matches for Fenerbahce this season in all competitions.
The Turkish talent has been a positive influence at both ends of the field as he is averaging 2.0 tackles, 1.0 interceptions, 1.6 clearances, 0.8 shots, 1.3 key passes and 1.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Turkish Super Lig. He has even been accurate when distributing possession from the left flank after completing 84.7% of his attempted passes in the Turkish top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Turkish club will run out in the summer of 2026. Therefore, the Gunners would have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about recruiting Kadioglu.
What Will Kadioglu Add To Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta’s Side?
Kadioglu is a tough-tackling full-back who can make a few timely interceptions for his team when defending inside his half. He usually clears his lines when the opposition are on the front foot and can make some driving runs with the ball on the left wing.
The Turkish talent can shoot the ball with power from long range and can engineer some meaningful openings for his teammates in the final third. He is primarily a left-back but can also play as a right-back or as a defensive midfielder if asked to do so.
We can expect Kadioglu to add more quality to Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta’s defensive department. He has what it takes to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the Emirates Stadium in the coming seasons.
At 24, Kadioglu has his best years ahead of him which makes him a great fit for Arsenal‘s needs in the long run. However, it remains to be seen whether he can make a smooth transition to life in Premier League football if the Gunners manage to get him on board in the upcoming transfer period.
