In a recent report, Fichajes stated that Arsenal are set to rival Manchester United for Girona left-back Miguel Gutiérrez. It has been mentioned that the Gunners are keen on signing the Spanish defender in the summer transfer window.
Gutierrez’s Solid Season In La Liga
Gutierrez is having a decent campaign at the Spanish club as he has produced a string of impressive performances on the left side of their backline. The 22-year-old has netted one goal and grabbed six assists in 30 matches for Girona this season across multiple competitions.
The Madrid-born talent has been a reliable performer on the left flank based on his average of 0.9 tackles, 0.7 interceptions, 1.8 clearances, 1.0 shots, 1.1 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball from the wide areas, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 88% in the Spanish top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Girona will expire in the summer of 2027. Hence, Arsenal would have to make a big offer if they are serious about securing the services of the Spanish defensive ace later this year.
Is Gutierrez A Decent Option For Arsenal Head Coach Mikel Arteta?
Gutierrez is a tough-tackling full-back who can time his challenges well to make some timely interceptions for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when required.
Guitierrez is primarily a left-back but can also fill in as a left-winger if told to do so. The Spanish sensation can shoot the ball with power from long range and has got the eye to play a few decisive passes from the left flank. He is a good dribbler with the ball as well.
Gutierrez is good enough to enhance the quality of Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta’s match-day squad. He has what it takes to compete with Oleksandr Zinchenko for a regular starting spot at the Emirates Stadium next season.
At 22, Gutierrez has got a bright future ahead of him and would be a great, long-term signing for the Gunners to pull off in the upcoming transfer window. However, he might need some time to cope with the physicality and high intensity of Premier League football if Arteta manages to bring him to North London this summer.
