In a recent report, journalists Dean Jones and Danny Rust claimed that Arsenal are monitoring the progress of Red Bull Leipzig starlet Benjamin Sesko. It has been stated that the Gunners are keeping tabs on the Slovenian centre-forward ahead of a potential move for him in the summer.
Sesko’s Rapid Rise In German Football
The 20-year-old has enjoyed a decent campaign at the German club after putting in a handful of productive displays as the focal point of their attack. Sesko has banged in 11 goals and picked up a couple of assists in 34 matches for RB Leipzig this season across multiple competitions.
The Slovenian sensation has made most of his appearances off the bench which explains why he is only averaging 1.3 shots, 0.3 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per game in the Bundesliga. He has lacked quality when linking up play with others around him in the opponent’s half based on his pass completion rate of 66.7% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Sesko is under contract at the German club until the summer of 2028 which would make it tough for the Gunners to land him on the cheap at the end of this campaign.
Arsenal Are Monitoring The Progress Of Sesko: Is He A Prospect For The Future?
Sesko can orchestrate a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the eye to create the odd chance for his teammates on the offensive end of the field. The Slovenian sensation is a good dribbler with the ball as well. However, the gifted attacker has to find a way to improve his link-up play in the opponent’s half.
Standing at 1.95m, Sesko can use his strong frame to win his fair share of 50-50 duels in the air. We can expect him to bring more firepower to Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta‘s attack. At 20, he has the potential to become a world-class striker someday.
Thus, Sesko would be a great acquisition for the Gunners to consider for the long run. However, there are some concerns over whether he can adapt to the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football. Still, the North London club should focus on getting a deal done for him as he is undoubtedly a prospect to watch out for in the future.
