In a recent report, Sport mentioned that Arsenal are locked in a three-way battle for Real Madrid ace Rodrgyo. It has been stated that the Gunners could face competition in the form of Liverpool and Manchester United in the race to sign the Brazilian winger.
Rodrgyo’s Impressive Form In Spanish Football This Season
Rodrygo is having another fruitful season at the Madrid club after he put in a series of impressive displays as a key member of Carlo Ancelotti’s attack. The 23-year-old has scored 13 goals and secured eight assists in 41 matches for Los Blancos during this campaign across all fronts.
The Brazilian talent has been a reliable performer in the final third based on his average of 2.7 shots, 1.3 key passes and 1.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half as he has completed 89.8% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium will expire in the summer of 2028. Thus, Arsenal would have to make a big offer if they are serious about winning the race for Rodrgyo later this year.
Should Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Snap Rodrygo Up?
Rodrygo can engineer some space for himself to get a few shots in at goal. He is a decent finisher in front of the opposition goal and can create some meaningful chances for his teammates to score.
The Brazilian talent is a technically gifted footballer who can make a few clever runs with the ball in and around the opponent’s penalty area. However, there are some concerns over whether he can maintain his good form in Premier League football if the Gunners manage to get a deal done for him at the end of this season.
Rodrygo is good enough to earn a regular first-team spot at the Emirates Stadium next season. He would also serve as an upgrade over Eddie Nketiah who has struggled to find consistency with his performances at Arsenal this season.
At 23, Rodrygo has got a bright future ahead of him and could help the Gunners compete for some major honours over the next decade. Thus, Arteta should focus on going all out to snap him up in the summer.
