In a recent report, Fichajes revealed that Arsenal are keen on recruiting Barcelona attacker Ferran Torres in the summer. It has been claimed that the Gunners are showing interest in landing the Spanish talent later this year.
Torres’ Impressive Record At Barcelona
Torres has enjoyed a decent campaign at the Nou Camp as he has been responsible for putting in a string of productive displays for Barca in the final third. The Spanish wide player has found the back of the net 11 times and earned four assists in 32 matches for the Catalan outfit this season across all competitions.
The 24-year-old has proven his worth despite making most of his appearances as a substitute by averaging 1.6 shots and 1.0 key passes per game in La Liga. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball after completing 79.2% of his attempted passes in the top tier of Spanish football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Catalan club will run out in the summer of 2027. Thus, the Gunners would have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about signing the Spanish sensation at the end of this season.
Should Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Move In For Ferran Torres?
Torres can engineer a yard of space for himself to get some shots in at goal. He can even set up a few decent chances for his teammates in the final third. The Spaniard can be a streaky goal-scorer in the final third but needs to find a way to earn more first-team starts in the future.
The Folos-born sensation is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also function as a right-winger or as a centre-forward up top if told to do so. We can expect him to enhance the quality of Mikel Arteta‘s match-day squad.
Torres is good enough to compete with Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard for a regular starting spot at the Emirates Stadium in the coming seasons. Thus, it makes sense for the Gunners to move in for him when the transfer window commences later this year.
At 24, Torres has got his peak years ahead of him which makes him a worthy option for Arteta to consider at the end of this campaign.
