Aston Villa are all set to host Tottenham Hotspur at the Villa Park in the Premier League this weekend. They settled for a goalless draw against Ajax in the first leg of Europe Conference League Round of 16 in the previous game. However, they would like to forget that game and focus on the league games.
The Villans are fourth in the domestic league with 55 points after 27 games. They will aim at securing three points on Sunday to avoid any slip-ups towards the business end of the season. They are in a good position to earn a Champions League spot for next season.
4-4-2 Aston Villa Predicted Lineup Vs Tottenham Hotspur
Defence
Emiliano Martinez will line up between the sticks for Aston Villa. He had a decent outing against Ajax and will be a key player once again. Matty Cash is likely to return to the starting lineup and regain the position of the right-back position.
Ezri Konsa and Diego Carlos are going to form the heart of the defence, meaning Clement Lenglet and Pau Torres will be dropped to the bench. Lucas Digne is expected to be replaced by Alex Moreno as the left-back.
Midfield
A couple of changes to take place in the midfield unit. While Douglas Luiz and Moussa Diaby will be retained, Morgan Rogers and Tim Iroegbunam are expected to face the heat. Leon Bailey and John McGinn will make it into the starting XI once again.
Attack
Youri Tielemans and Ollie Watkins will lead the attacking lineup. Both had a quiet outing against Ajax and would like to find the back of the net against Spurs. Their contribution will be crucial for the team’s success.
Emiliano Buendia (knee), Boubacar Kamara (knee), Tyrone Mings (knee) and Jhon Duran (hamstring) aren’t going to participate in the contest. There is doubt over the fitness of Jacob Ramsey, who will be assessed soon.
